Housing and Homelessness

As someone who has experience housing insecurity, I know the first-hand impacts of inaction on housing. • As councilor, I'll focus on getting housing built so everyone in Corvallis can have an affordable and safe place to call home. • I'll work to support renters by passing protections for tenants to make sure housing remains safe and up to code. • Housing for seniors is paramount- allowing seniors to have homes to safely age in place, downsize, and most importantly, AFFORD. • Families need more affordable housing options. If we are going to keep Corvallis thriving, we MUST build housing for families to grow with them and doesn't cost half of their income.

Fighting for Corvallis
During these unprecedented times, I'll fight to make sure Corvallis remains a safe and welcoming city. As the federal government continues its attacks on our neighbors, I will fight to protect them with every tool in our arsenal. We have no room for attacks on our neighbors, and as councilor I'll fight to keep it that way.
Thriving Economy
Corvallis is blessed with an incredible environment for growing great food — and we should have a thriving food scene to match it. By partnering with OSU’s world-class work in food sciences, we can build an exciting downtown food culture. A bustling downtown and waterfront benefits everyone — from college students to families, tourists, and retirees.
A Thriving Economy
Corvallis is home to incredible farms, ranches, and food producers. We have a vested interest in making sure they can keep growing, raising, picking, and creating the amazing products that come out of the Willamette Valley. As a city councilor, I want to explore how we can make it financially advantageous for our local restaurants and grocery stores to stock those products and cook with locally grown ingredients.
Tenants Bill of Rights
Tenants deserve protection and rights. I worked alongside several community organizers to develop a Tenants Bill of Rights for Corvallis. This would include protections for children whose families are facing eviction, caps on security deposits, protections of rights for renters, and more.
Ban on mass surveillance
I am vehemently against mass surveillance and as city councilor, I will work to ban Flock and other automated license plate readers from Corvallis. Flock and other ALPR technology is a direct threat to our community safety, not an answer for public safety.
Issues
Waterfront
Part of what makes living in Corvallis so amazing is our proximity to beautiful scenery and amazing outdoor recreation. I want to make our waterfronts easily accessible for all and increase the usable space along the river so we can utilize every inch of our riverfront. As councilor, I'll work to push for improved third spaces along our waterfront — if we want a growing and thriving downtown, we must create the space for it to expand.
Car-free streets more often?
Local events that open the streets to pedestrian traffic are highly successful, and I’ve personally loved seeing us take back space from car infrastructure. I love community events and want more opportunities for us to come together.
I think we should open up First Street to pedestrian traffic more often to support community events and to create even more space for the community to enjoy their city.
This will provide a pathway to a street hockey league, roller skating, double dutch, or some incredible chalk art to name just a few ways to take advantage of our riverfront.
Fighting threats to our communities
As councilor, I will stand up to harmful immigration enforcement practices that are tearing families apart. I will partner with local organizations and legislators to develop policies and community networks that protect our immigrant neighbors and keep Corvallis a welcoming, safe community for everyone.

Supporting our unhoused neighbors
As someone who has experienced housing insecurity, my family knows firsthand how difficult it is to navigate and overcome — whether the housing insecurity comes from high prices, low inventory, substance misuse, natural disaster, mental health, or another reason.
I have been a consistent volunteer at the Corvallis Drop-in Day Center on their street outreach team for over a year, and have met some of the most kind and generous people since moving to Corvallis.They deserve a humane response to their trauma. They deserve a community that supports them.
I will push for comprehensive solutions to address homelessness that are cost-effective and use our money wisely. Continuing the sweeps wastes taxpayer resources and punishes people further for the crime of simply existing.
Climate Resiliency
Oregon is in the midst of accelerating climate change, resulting in greater wildfire risk, dangerous air quality, and warmer temperatures. Corvallis needs to be ready to face those challenges head-on by working to prepare our region for climate emergencies.
This means working with the county to create climate resiliency centers in Corvallis and surrounding areas to make sure we are prepared for when disasters happen.
Increasing Housing Density
Our city is surrounded by incredible farm and forest land, and I want to protect it by supporting infill housing — especially in a city with a sizable student population.
Let’s make it financially advantageous to build ADUs and other creative housing solutions by giving homeowners a break on their taxes. They’re doing us a favor by increasing the housing supply; we should reward them in return. This also keeps taxpayer money in the hands of our community instead of going to a big-name developer’s million-dollar bottom line.
A vibrant downtown
If elected City Councilor, I will champion our incredible music, art, and food scene to develop Corvallis's downtown area into something that everyone can enjoy. I'll support connections between the City, small business development, and OSU to make sure the innovation happening at OSU can thrive here in Corvallis. We have an incredible resource in our local university, we would be remiss not to work to support that growth potential.
Dynamic pricing ban
Dynamic pricing is predatory and increases costs for working people. As councilor, I will ban dynamic pricing in the City of Corvallis. People in this city should have faith that the price the sticker shows will be the price they pay when they get to the cash register. This pricing takes advantage of your data to cost you more money. I won't allow that.
